What to look for

• The material. Ask which silicone compound is used and how it is cured. Platinum-cured silicone is common for food contact products.
• Test reports. Food contact rules differ by market. Common references are the US FDA rules and the German LFGB standard. Ask for a test report for the exact material and color you will buy.
• Color and additives. Pigments and additives also need to be suitable. A report for a clear sample does not automatically cover every color.
